Superior drummer black friday8/31/2023 Generally speaking, you get 24 Bit instead of 16 Bit with SDX, there are way more velocity layers and round robin samples and you get all those additional mic channels which you can use for more exotic mixing techniques, whereas the EZX will give you a more ready sound with very little you can change about them. So unless you didn't listen to the sound snppets on the website, there should not have been any surprises as to what sounds you get for your money. You can also add producers' presets for a few more bucks, which also give you exactly the sound from their respective product pages. You can either apply your mixing skills to great effect (don't like the included FX, but they do yield good results) OR you can pick from several presets per drum kit, which will give you exactly the sound from each SDX's product page on. Yes, they're recorded through first class analogue gear, but they're not heavily compressed or EQed. I also have Slate drums, but they don't sound like a real played kit to me, so I am just using them to beef up SD's kicks and snares selectively. The samples are usually pretty mildly processed. If you want a more natural sound, a look at Addictive Drums might be worth considering. And I see a tendency at Toontrack to do metal-style drum sounds. That's good, because I do not like any of the SDX's that I have (stock one, NY-something, Metal Foundry). The EZX-expansions load in Superior Drummer and can be routed, assembled and mixed like any SDX-expansion.
